Missing exams due to car crash injuries
I was being driven up to my uni flat for my exam the next morning and on the way we got in a bad crash on the motorway, Monday 4th. We were going about 70mph so the impact was pretty full on.
I went to the hospital and they said it’s likely just whiplash and unless I developed any tingling or numbness I should be fine. So thankfully nothing too serious (and the other people in the car are doing fine too, it was my side that took the brunt of the impact).
I obviously missed the exam the following morning and then also missed the one on Friday 8th due to my injuries and also having no way to get back to my flat. I can’t take public transport atm since that would involve carrying my heavy bags which makes my neck pain worse and the car has been written off.
I’ve contacted my student advisor and lecturers about everything and I’m getting an exceptional circumstance application sorted for the two exams I have missed so far. Which they have said is pretty much guaranteed to be accepted.
The new problem is that my headaches and neck pain have been getting worse over the last couple days making it impossible to study. I have my last exam in 9 days now and I’m barely getting any studying done, the more I try the more my head hurts. Will the headaches and pain be an acceptable reason to miss my last exam? I’m worried that since it’ll have been 2 weeks since the crash I won’t be given exceptional circumstances and they would expect me to have sat the exam.
I plan on contacting my doctor tomorrow about it. I don’t fancy the 12 hour total wait time in A&E again.
Does anyone have any similar experiences and can let me know whether they got to sit an exam at a later date because of this? I would contact my student advisor but it’s the weekend and I’m panicking a bit. I’m in 3rd year so these exams count towards my classification now which is why I’m so worried about missing them.
