I decided to make another one, only because I really wanted the lid seem to be tight. Also someone asked about a pattern and or a couple progress pics.

The leather thickness is 1.1mm

I skived a bit extra off the middle of each piece also.

I actually ended up with a bit too much material at the corners.

Which led me to do something I've never done before, bevel the edges slightly before stitching.

(I recommend you dont) doing so led to some inconsistencies with my marks to edge ratio.

I more or less had to freehand my holes as I went with the awl. Honestly turned out better than I expected when I first started. Something I might practice a bit more. It could eliminate some time in the process. Makes it much harder to keep the proper angle though. So any weird stitching is the result of that.

But the seem is tight when closed and the lid opens more naturally.

All and all I'm happy with it and most likely won't make another one. ( but I've said that before)
