Hey everyone, I really need some advice on this.

I joined a company in July 2024 as a trainee (3.5 LPA), completed my 1-year training, and then got confirmed + promoted in July 2025. (4.02 LPA)

I resigned on April 1, 2026. (I got a new offer)

Now HR is saying there’s a clause in my original offer letter:

If I leave within 2 years after confirmation, I need to pay 50% of the training cost/stipend

This comes to around ₹1.6–1.75L

🤔 Why I’m confused/frustrated:

* I completed the full training period
* I worked after confirmation + got promoted
* This clause was never re-highlighted after promotion
* Promotion letter says “all other terms remain unchanged”

So now it feels like I’m being asked to pay for something I already completed

⚠️ Extra complication:

* My notice period is 3 months (till June 30)
* But I want early release by April 30

So now there are 2 issues:

  1. Training/bond recovery (~₹1.7L)
  2. Notice period shortfall (2 months)

🧠 Possible situations I’m seeing:

🟢 Best case:

* Early release approved (April 30)
* Bond waived
👉 Pay: ₹0

🟡 Most realistic:

* Early release approved
* Bond reduced
👉 Pay: ₹30K–₹80K

🟠 Trade-off:

* “We’ll release you early, but pay bond”
👉 Negotiation needed

🔵 Another possibility:

* They don’t allow early release
* Ask me to serve till June 30
* Bond still applies

💬 My questions:

  1. Are these training repayment clauses actually enforceable in India?
  2. Does it still apply even after completing training + getting promoted?
  3. Has anyone successfully negotiated this down or avoided it completely?
  4. If I push for early release, will that weaken my case?
  5. What’s the smartest way to handle this without risking my relieving/experience letter?

🙏 My current approach:

* Trying to stay polite and not escalate
* Planning to negotiate based on:
* Completed training
* Post-confirmation contribution
* Smooth handover

Honestly, this feels like a grey area between legal and practical enforcement.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through something similar 🙏

May 5 is my joining!!

My boss is making so much complications and dramas, I'm not a higher-level person but they are speaking with CEO and all, WTF?
