Hey all,

**EDIT**

Fair feedback honestly, and I appreciate people taking the time to comment.

I completely understand the “too many TCGs” argument that’s actually part of why I’m trying to focus heavily on the worldbuilding, travel mechanics, mutations, and planet identity instead of just making another generic card game. I guess my game is more of a hybrid strategy card game with TCG elements.

My core ideas behind Astral Forge are -

  • Astrals mutate depending on the planet they travel to (Effects, HP/ATK also changes depending on the mutation of said Astrals
  • Deep space itself is part of gameplay (Travelling through space to get to new planets + mutate)
  • Different worlds have completely different visual identities and atmospheres and the cards follow that visual concept. Pixel planet and Astrals have bespoke cards and illustration design that follow the 8-Bit planet, for example.

Each player builds a deck of 30 cards, split between Astrals, Travel cards, Cosmic rift cards (Like chance cards, a cosmic event of sorts) and Instability cards, which are limited BIG event cards.

The planets in play are decided by both players before the deck build, so each player can build their strategy for either Total annihilation (Destroy all opponent Astrals) or Cosmic Domination (Having more Astrals than your opponent on every planet in play.

So far, a lot of what I’ve shared has been lore/art direction while I playtest the game, over and over and over again haha. But if its a concept that would interest anyone, i would be super happy to post more about the game play.

I also had to google what IP farming meant lol. I was not intending to offend anyone, so apologies if i did. I am just super excited about my game and am looking for feedback on whether others actually think its a cool idea. But i fully respect the opinion that is, essentially, if I think its cool, just do it anyway! And kinda love that.

I’ll definitely start sharing more mechanics and gameplay soon instead of just worldbuilding, as first and foremost, my design is a game, that i want to be fun and strategic to play! Build your own deck of 30 cards from a set of 60, and play a chess type, almost poker like strategy game to take over the cosmos.

Appreciate the honest feedback genuinely.

Thank you everyone :-)

I am creating a new TCG.

Aliens called Astrals travel between planets and mutate depending on the biome of the planet.

I have a bank of cool ideas for biomes and planets already, but wanted to ask the community what ideas would excite you the most?

Thanks in advance!

I’m currently building a trading card game called Astral Forge.

The main idea is that creatures (called Astrals) can mutate depending on which planet they’re on.

For example, the same Astral might become an ice version on a frozen planet, or a lava version on another.

Movement between planets is part of the strategy too, so positioning affects how your deck plays.

I’m trying to keep it strategic but not overwhelming, I want kids to be able to enjoy too.

Does this sound like something you’d enjoy, or does it feel like too much for a TCG? I want there to be poker/ chess like elements to it. Only you know your deck, you can be building a whole strategy as you play, unknown to your opponent.

Please let me know your thoughts! :-)

Thanks, Luce x
