I took these long-exposure photos (3 seconds each) last year in Mexico City, and I’ve been going back to them because I still can’t quite explain what I’m seeing. In all the shots, the stars behave exactly as expected they remain mostly consistent, showing the typical slight movement caused by Earth’s rotation over time. However, there is one object that stands out clearly from the rest.
Unlike the stars, this light shows a noticeable and unusual movement pattern that doesn’t match anything else in the frame. What’s even more strange is that about an hour later, this same “star” is no longer visible at all, while all the other stars remain in their expected positions and motion. I’m not jumping to conclusions, but I also can’t confidently identify what this could be. It doesn’t seem to behave like a star, plane, or typical satellite (at least from what I know).
Has anyone seen something similar or has any idea what could cause this kind of movement?
Would love to hear thoughts or possible explanations.
