Hello all,
I was playing through ME2 Legendary Edition on my PS5 when I died on the Derelict Reaper / IFF mission. The game crashed, I tried loading back into my checkpoint and I got a popup saying that the save data was corrupted. I've dealt with save game corruption only a few times on my PC and it usually only affected one save file. Guess Mass Effect's special place in my heart causes hypertension cause all 3 of my separate saves in ME2 were completely wiped by my PS5 without my input.
I tried rebuilding the database through safe mode, recovering any lost data and nothing has recovered the files. The worst part is that the LE home screen indicates my character name, my class and the mission I was on but when you click inside, nothing - just asking if I wanted to import my save from ME1.
So take this as a cautionary tale - if you got ways to copy and backup your save files, please do. I'm pretty sure I don't have access to that on PS5 without paying for PS Plus. Now I gotta figure out something else to play because I'm way too bummed to start over again for at least a few months.
