I recently visited the IMAX in Sinsheim and noticed something that has become quite distracting: the stair/aisle lighting in the theater has gotten significantly brighter than it used to be.
I spoke with a staff member who told me that aisle lighting is required for safety reasons, which makes sense. However, it seems like something has been adjusted recently, because the lights are now noticeably brighter than before.
The issue is that the light beams are now clearly visible on the screen. During Project Hail Mary, this was especially distracting and honestly quite immersion-breaking. In brighter scenes like in Michael, it was less noticeable, but the lights still strongly affect peripheral vision throughout the entire film.
I’m wondering if anyone knows the best way to provide feedback about this directly to IMAX or whoever is responsible for the projection standards. Would that be IMAX corporate, the museum/cinema management in Sinsheim, or both?
