Thinking of switching from Simplera Sync to the new Abbott Instinct for my 780G. What’s your experience?

TL;DR: I’ve been offered the switch from the Simplera Sync to the new Abbott Instinct (15-day sensor). For those who have made the change: is it worth it?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been using the Simplera Sync with my 780G for about a year now. Overall, it’s been a decent experience, but I’ve had recurring issues during the summer. Whenever the temperatures get high, the sensor starts acting up or just fails completely, forcing me to change it before the 7-day mark.

Now, I’ve been offered the chance to switch to the new Abbott Instinct sensor, and I’m curious to hear from those who have made the jump.

I’m mainly interested in:

  • Heat & Durability: Does the Instinct handle high temperatures better than the Simplera? Does the adhesive actually last the full 15 days?
  • Accuracy: How does it compare? Since the Instinct doesn't allow manual calibrations, do you find it reliable enough for the 780G algorithm?
  • Comfort: Is the smaller size a real advantage in daily use?
  • Connectivity: Have you noticed more connection drops or "sensor updating" messages compared to the Simplera?

If anyone has made this specific switch, I’d love to hear your honest opinion. Is it a clear upgrade or just a different set of headaches?

Thanks in advance!
