I've spent the past year teaching myself the science of electro acoustic and the first plan I've got to share is a 2x8"/10" kick.
Here are the simulations for one of the recommended drivers (admittedly needs some -2dB EQ around 330Hz):
Now, I'm looking to get as many measurements as possible with each driver I've selected, and I've come to propose we work together !
I'll send the plan to anyone planning to build it in the coming month(s), I'll build one with two 10HPL64 myself and update you with measures for the speaker in 2-3 weeks.
If you do build it, it would help me greatly if you inform me of which drivers you'll build it with, and if possible send me measurements for 1W/1m (and perhaps SPL@1m).
Here is the list of drivers that fit my cabinet according to sims, I can send the sim curve for any of these and even ones I haven't listed if they aren't deeper than 126mm:
