I apologize for the confusing question I hope my answer to my own prompt can help communicate what I'm trying to ask. I didn't really know how to word it in a way that made sense.
I've been having this thought in the back of my mind for a while. That out of all series for a possible partner to come from, I expected Fire Emblem to be one of the last ones. Don't get me wrong I love Nintendo dearly, Fire Emblem being published by them cements it as one of the series I love on default.
But by the time Linhardt entered my life it was... really more of a passive love for the series. I was massively fixated on Pokemon for the large majority of my life. I played some Fire Emblem games, sure. But not nearly to the same extent.
I got into Three Houses YEARS late. By the time I began to show interest a lot of the fandom activity was in the past. I don't mind this, and it's honestly a running theme with me of getting into things years after they've released. But it is very shocking to me that one of my other halves came from a series I didn't give much thought until Linhardt got himself nice and cozy in my life.
It's thanks to him that I played a large chunk of the Fire Emblem titles and it's only been recently that I've started playing Pokemon again. Having him as a passive observer is... quite fun, honestly. He's interested in the dex entries and the designs moreso than the actual gameplay.
If I knew about fictosexuality (or, really gave it any serious thought) I can't help but wonder if I'd be with a person from Pokemon instead. But I highly doubt it. I have not bonded with anybody to the same level I have with the Lin-ster, and I don't see that changing any time soon.
