I am humbly requesting direction(Pic for information only)
First off I want to make it clear, I am not a machinist, I dabble in making metal things from time to time but thats the end of it.
Okay so I attached an image of a thing I want to make for my other half for our anniversary. I got newr on a year to fiddle fuck my way around this. But! I request your advice on how to go about this without a CNC machine. I have access to a mill (of dubious quality) and a surface grinder at my job. And as long as I'm clocked out I've been given a discrete nod to work on this.
My idea is to make the body out of aluminum with a brass straight edge. I can buy the materials easily enough. I would like to push my skills and try for a hugh degree of accuracy and flatness on the piece.
Yes, yes, yes, I could just buy this. Shit I could even drop a bit of cash-ola and get a badass one. But I really wanna make this for her. She's got a woodshop down in our basement and I'd love to give her something I made.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated, including suggestions for materials too. I'm not locked in on what it's made out of. I just figured aluminum and brass would look slick AF.
