Hi,
I got diagnosed with inattentive ADHD in August and started Elvanse in September, i’ve been on and off since then and tried Concerta XL briefly which I felt did nothing. Elvanse when it’s at its best has helped me significantly with uni, and my grades have increased significantly since taking it. But i’ve noticed it only lasts 4 hours after taking it. When it kicks in I feel an improvement in my mood, i feel more optimistic about things, slightly chattier, and more focused, with this i also feel a slight increase in heart rate but it’s settled down more recently. But this feeling only last up until lunch time and then i feel more ‘normal’ or unmedicated i suppose, but i just don’t want to do anything and I don’t really feel excited by anything. With concerta not working and elvanse wearing off so fast i’m feeling really hopeless, especially because when it works its great and its hard to let it go for that reason. I try and do everything right, sleep, exercise, protein etc but still the same. I’m really reluctant to try non-stimulants because i know they take weeks to kick in and are generally less effective. Has anyone else been through the same or similar? Did you find a way around it? I’m just feeling quite defeated and in the process of being assigned a new clinician so have no one to talk to really. Thanks for reading!
