Already in title but I’m a 5th year CS major at a shit tier state school, think the worst UC School, I struggled a lot in math and couldn’t continue with the major properly without passing.
I ended up getting an internship for my third year, a small startup company but we did 3 small projects and none that were related to real work. I tried everything to get an internship this summer, got a referral from a friend but didn’t move through, went to conference and got an interview but got ghosted by the company. I wasn’t really able to get many interviews besides those, but I even got my resume reviewed by an engineer at C1 and they said it was good, but I guess it’s still not strong enough to move on.
Im a 4th year now and currently work in IT during the school year and I did research my first year, small stuff but nothing too major to flex about. I was wondering what do I do to maximize my chances of getting full time SWE after college? My current plan was just to grind leetcode and prep while I continue working IT over summer but I’m still kinda worried for what I can do beyond that. Any advice is appreciated..
