Thyroid Cancer Radioactive Iodine Treatment Safety for Relatives
I had several posts flagged by mods so I have taken all those down. I am taking my uncle for radioactive treatment next week and I want to know when it is truly safe for us to hang out again.
He usually helps me with projects and lately says for his mental health he doesn’t want to stay home on the weekends. He had test doses last week and I am taking him to get his main dose on Friday.
I purchased a radiation detector off of a website which I wont name. Without posting the type of detector as I think this was the community violation previously, the detector went off even though we had waited the 72 hours required by his doctors. I removed the prior posts as I’m not trying to advertise.
I know that every patients dosage is probably different, but does anyone have a clue of what a safe exposure would be? I want to wait a safe amount of time, but I don’t want my uncle sitting at home for weeks on end for no reason.
The device I have has several settings, but the setting that was setting off alarms was CPM.
(If this post is inappropriate could a mod message me with how I can fix future posts? Also if this is not the right subreddit for this can anyone private message a more appropriate place? Thanks)
