Office chaos where every single day I was expected to participate in Squid Game: Corporate Seating Edition 😭
So I moved from Bangalore to Gurgaon because of a department change and honestly everything went TOO smooth. Like suspiciously smooth. Should’ve known the universe was planning something.
First day at the new office, got my entry card, met the team, awkward smiles exchanged. Since my manager is on maternity leave, I was told I could sit at her desk. Cool. Simple.
Now for context, our office is hybrid 3 days WFO, 2 days WFH. But some people apparently treat the office like a second home and come DAILY. Anyways. Second day, this girl comes up to me lets call her T and goes “you need to change your desk and move to mine.”
I was like ??? I’m fine here 🤐
Then she goes “before your manager came this was my seat.” So I politely said okay but the other desk literally has your name on it you can sit there? Suddenly her entire Avengers team assembled behind her ready for Civil War. Her manager and team members. Everyone started defending her like this was a property dispute and not a desk. Mind you I’m standing there alone. I thought leave it, not worth fighting over, so I shifted. NOW. Next day miss ma’am wasn’t even in office and all the desk were occupied, so I sat back at my manager’s desk. Halfway through my meeting CAMERA ON BTW she comes after lunch and asks me to move AGAIN. I said “I’m already sitting here, you can take another desk.” And this woman had the audacity to say: “New joiners don’t get designated seats in this office so this isn’t your desk.”
Something in me shifted instantly. I turn the camera off and said “Designated seat chahiye bhi nahi mujhe it’s supposed to be first come first serve. Also can you please have some decency? aap dekhre ho mai meeting me hu with my camera on.”
Then enters her protector. Let’s call him Mr. Gadha. This man MARRIED by the way eats breakfast lunch with her, drops her to PG, picks her up, and I’ve literally seen them walking hand in hand in Galleria. DISGUSTING.
Anyways Mr. Gadha starts yelling “wo desk tumhari nhi hai wo T ki hai you need to move” I said “let me finish my meeting then we’ll talk.” She left and in the meantime I drafted a mail to the admin head asking her to please assign me a desk because apparently every single day I was expected to move happened to me 8 times BTW. Now instead of helping me like a normal admin person, she came straight to my desk and started interrogating me in front of the ENTIRE office 😭 like ma’am this is already embarrassing enough.
Then Mr. Gadha, this man comes stomping towards me and starts yelling “ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT US???” I never even mentioned names in the mail. Sir exposed himself voluntarily.
I said “I never took names you’re the one assuming it’s about you.”
He kept arguing while the admin head stood there watching this live episode of Bigg Boss Corporate Edition. So I finally said if he’s not willing to listen then I’m not explaining myself. Then another creepy little side character appears. Let’s call him Mouse.
This man goes:
“Agar seat ki itni dikkat hai toh humari dedo 😏”
BROTHER EW?????
At that point I gave up on humanity and moved to the lab section which needs access card entry. Honestly best decision ever because the people there are actually normal and civilized. Imagine being bullied into the secret science basement only to find peace, stability and emotional safety there 😭

No daily fights over desks, just people quietly working around servers and minding their own business like functional adults. Imagine getting bullied out of the main office only to find peace near server racks and testing systems 😬
