Hi all,

Sorry for the vague title.
I tore my biceps tendon (distal) trying to move some heavy furniture with one arm.

Result: full rupture, surgery a couple of days ago, cast around my dominant (right) arm. Cast will be gone in 4 weeks after which 6 weeks of sling will follow. Sorry for the weird bathroom photo, I was just out of surgery after receiving a morphine shot in my behind

I forgot how important having two arms is and I find life to be quite a struggle with one arm tucked away 😅

So, in stead of being depressed about it, I decided I’ll make the best of it and work my way up until a self declared victory day, the day I will be lifting again with that arm, even if it’s a kilo.

My questions to this fabulous community are:

- do you hava any advice on how to keep working out without affecting my right elbow too much?

Calisthenics, ropes, bands, whatever can keep me in some kind of shape with minimal muscle loss would be great

- do you have any advice on life with a cast in general? I live alone so there is no one to help

Sleeping tips?

Work? I work mainly from behind a desk but find it difficult to be able to use a keyboard

Many, many thanks for your tips 🙏🏼

I had a weird accident last night.
I was moving a heavy piece of furniture and wanted to lift it temporarely so I could swing a furniture mover with wheels under.

Right dominant arm, I heard something tear, pain and I dropped the furniture.

The pain was not that intense but I felt something tore. It’s definitely the distal bicep tendon.

I have no idea if it is a full rupture or a partial tear, I can still twist my forearm from palms down to palms up and my bicep still reacts (up and down) when turning my forearm, I’m guessing it’s a partial but I can’t know for certain until I see a doctor.

Some bruising apeared today just below the elbow crease on my forearm.

I have an appointment on wednesday evening with an orthopedic surgeon. I’m scared to death at the perspective of not working out for months.

Anyone with a similar situation in the past that can give me some advice?

Right now my arm is ok if I don’t do stupid things with it, no pain unless specific movements like turning the key of a door, no swelling, some purple bruising, bicep still responding to twists of forearm.

Should I bandage it?
Anyone who lived through the same ordeal?
