In my previous post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/NIH/s/5cosPliqLI I explained my situation of receiving a JIT for my F32 that was competitive not discussed. (Some of the details I provided in that original post was incorrect due to my own misunderstanding). But to summarize I submitted 08/08/2025, competitive not discussed status was given 02/13/2026, and personalized JIT email from PO was sent 03/18/2026.

Today I was checking my eRA commons and noticed the status updated to pending review on 05/01. In the status history I noticed a concerning message saying the application was incomplete and to message my SRO.

I messaged both the PO and SRO and they both said they aren’t sure why it says that and everything seems good from their end.

PO said they recommended it for funding and it was approved at the NIGMS level on 05/01. But there are multiple approval steps before the NoA and due to delays and new approval steps they don’t have a good sense of how long it will all take. PO said they were “cautiously optimistic”.

I am wondering if anyone has seen an approximate range of time fellowships have stayed in pending review? Also, has anyone seen fellowships pending review never receive a NoA (particularly if there weren’t any known issues with the supplement JIT documents such as genome data sharing, no duplicate funding, etc.)?

I appreciate any insight or ideas anyone can offer!
Regardless, I hope me providing some of these details can help other people in similar situations!
