I didn’t read any spoilers or Reddit before blazing through the ACOTAR books. Friends had told me that the main character wasn’t perfect, and I think that helped me continue to read and enjoy the books. Kind of like permission for me to accept Feyre as imperfect. I think these books give me a lot of chances to practice, “multiple things can be true at the same time.” When I read ACOWAR, I can see that Feyre is really executing her plan to ruin the Spring Court, while seeing Tamlin is trying to do better for her and trying to do what he thinks he should do to protect his court (though he may be failing at all of it). It’s complicated and messy and I enjoy the ups and downs of these books. Just taking them as they are for entertainment. Though, I did find a lot of things to think about in reading ACOSF. I really enjoyed watching Nesta’s friendships grow, watching her find her chosen family, deciding what she wants. I can see that Feyre has a beautiful chosen family, and that it’s technically available to Nesta, but I think even Nesta says in multiple spots that those are Feyre’s friends / family, not hers. It is an absolute joy to read the friends sleepover. I was crying tears of happiness! These books aren’t perfect. But I enjoy them!
