First time posting on Reddit, so I’m not sure if I’m doing this right. But please bear with me.
Just a quick explanation. My company suddenly decided to place a plant in the reception, and as the receptionist, I was given the responsibility of taking care of it. Now, I don’t mind, but I am worried since I do not have any knowledge when it comes to taking care of a plant. I was able to distinguish one of the plants as a monstera adansonii while the other (correct me if I’m wrong) a pothos.
I’ve had the plant for 2 weeks now and water it every Friday after checking if the soil is dry. I noticed that the leaves were slightly curling on the side, making me confused and wondering if I’m making a mistake. My colleagues said 1 ½ cups of water was enough to water them, but I am beginning to have some doubts.
Could the flying insects also be a factor? They weren’t there before, but after the 1st week, I suddenly had so many small insects flying around the plant. I’m wondering if they’re fungus gnats, and if they are, how do I treat them? Is it related to how I water the plant?
The plant is placed in the corner of the room, 1 meter away from the windows and the glass door. The reception is bright from the natural lighting, but I worry that the plant is not getting enough indirect sunlight. I can’t even move it because the plant was specifically bought to be placed in the corner.
I am honestly so torn because I genuinely want to see these guys prosper. Any advice would be very much appreciated. <3
