Looking for a sim I can mostly run in the background

Hello,

I have been interested in train sims for a while, but never really played any before. Does anyone have any recommendations for a sim that I can mostly run in the background as I work, do chores, etc. I don't mind doing a little bit here and there, but I prefer if it can mostly been done on 'auto-pilot' and just sort of sit back and watch. Thanks!

Edit: I guess I should also note that I am pretty open to any type of trains, whether it be passenger, cargo, etc.

To me, SCS Software is one of the best success stories in video game history. The fact they took a niche genre like trucking, built it up into a large and passionate following, and still put out regular updates and content for games that are 10 plus years old is pretty amazing. However, I notice whenever they make any posts on social media, there is a sizeable portion of fans that comment asking when certain content is going to drop (not related to the post), complaining about something trivial, or just be unnecessarily toxic.

Maybe I shouldn't expect more out of people on social media.... but does anyone else notice this? It just seems wild to me since SCS is one of the 'good ones' out there in terms of game development.
