Hi everyone, are there any un-touristy but still charming neighbourhoods in Gyeongju? Or the whole city centre more like a historical theme park? I've read a few reports that say the hanok hotels are all modern reconstructions designed for tourists, which put me off a bit.

I chose Gyeongju as I liked the idea of going somewhere with beautiful historic buildings as a contrast to my other destinations which are modern cities, but also staying in an authentic neighbourhood where real Koreans live. Am I dreaming?
