Trekking shoe recommendations (waterproof?)

I’m new to the sub, and to the world of trekking in general. Up until now I’ve been using pretty bad shoes, but I want to invest in a good pair. The thing is, this summer I’m going to Scotland and I’ll be doing quite a bit of hiking there, so I want something that will work well and keep my feet dry. If they also look nice and I can wear them day to day, even better.

I live in a country with a pretty dry climate, so I don’t usually have issues with rain, but while I’m at it I’d like something that works for rainy days too. My usual hiking is in fairly rocky and dry mountains. But I don’t know what I’ll encounter in Scotland.

I’ve looked at the Merrell Moab 3 GTX and of course the Salomon XT-6 (but I don’t really like the GTX version). I’d prefer them in brown or warm tones.

Thanks :)
