Lenskart Jora Bridge Santoshpur executive faked a sale using my mother’s account and harassed us for my personal number — proof inside
Yesterday, May 19 2026, I visited Lenskart Jora Bridge Santoshpur branch with my mom to purchase specs for her. Upon reaching, we couldn’t find any suitable specs for her (we were searching for a rimless spec in fiber or plastic band, not in a metal band, as she has allergy issues with metals).
Just when we were about to leave, a male executive called me near him in a very fishy manner, pointing out beside him. As I went and my mother stood beside me, the guy started opening something in his tablet. As the front cam opened, I stepped aside as I don’t want my picture taken for any reason. I asked my mother to stand there and give a picture of her instead (we could simply avoid and leave but at that time I didn’t think much). She stood there, he got a picture of her and asked for specifically my number. I didn’t give my number, but we gave my mother’s number. As he entered my mother’s number, her already existing Lenskart account appeared on his tablet. Things were not a big problem till now. But then he started harassing us, asking for specifically my number, and said we can’t have a picture of one person and a number of another person — it has to belong to the same person, etc., where the number and the picture both belonged to my mother and even her Lenskart account was shown on their tablet. Why he pushed me to share my number, I don’t understand till now.
So I asked him what the purpose of it was, as a customer I never had to do this. I bought a lot of Lenskart specs and visited the same branch before, never having to share a contact number and picture just for entering the shop. I asked, “Is it something new because I never had to do this before?” The guy aggressively replied, “No, it’s nothing new, it has been happening since forever.” So I asked, “What is this for?” He said, “So that we can suggest you better fitted specs, it’s our rule, we do it, do you understand now??” I obviously did not understand this useless purpose as we were leaving, and then he called me for this, wasting my time. If it were true, they could have done that process exactly when we entered, not when we were leaving. So I said, “No, I didn’t understand, please elaborate.” By then, another customer also tried to intervene to help and said, “As a customer she has all the right to ask you and you must answer,” as she witnessed the whole drama. By this time, the situation got heated up as he was denying to give a proper answer and just pushing for my number. And I was getting angry at this useless executive’s intimidating behaviour. So I asked, “Tell me what is the purpose of taking this picture and the number, which we already provided, and you’re still pushing to share MY number?”
He did not give me a proper answer and continued to say exactly the same things he was saying — “When a customer enters we take this for our data and bla bla.” We were not approached for this when we entered. HE APPROACHED FOR THIS WHEN WE WERE ABOUT TO LEAVE.
Anyway, there was no conclusion, our time and energy got wasted, and we left. As we were leaving, I told him I’ll surely look into it.
Within the next 5 minutes, my mother received a WhatsApp message saying — “Hi! Thank you for your purchase! Please reach out to the nearest executive to pick up your order.”
Are you kidding?
This message literally opened my eyes. Okay, so this guy was just trying to fake a sale by harassing customers. WE DID NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING — FOR YOUR CLARITY, AS MENTIONED AT FIRST. So what was this message for??
These sales executives are maybe so pressured to perform and get sales that they try to do all these kinds of tricks to meet their basic sales goal. Maybe just to get his basic salary, he needs to get a certain number of sales done, and to meet that goal, these poor executives scam, harass, and collect data from customers. And most of the time, this is how they lose their already existing customers and the company itself suffers. And the cycle goes on — a constant cycle of pressure to commit fraud: companies pressuring employees, and then employees scamming customers, and then companies losing customers.
Now I really feel pity for this guy whose picture I am attaching. Maybe he is a victim of toxic work culture in India.
BUT HE GOT ONE NUMBER (my mother’s) TO SHOW A FAKE SALE — THEN WHY DID HE PUSH TO SHARE MY NUMBER?? That’s really creepy.
Lenskart, look into it, or else I will have to take other steps.
