Need more cowboy / country and western themed metal

Looking for anything that evokes the old west, cowboys, or country tinged metal.

Stuff I already like and want more in the vein of:
- Wayfarer
- Spiritworld
- Earth (particularly The Bees Made Honey...)

No cowpunk please.

Doom/stoner/hard rock is fine too. I'm more looking for the vibe.

Question for hiring managers: How often do you have someone in mind for a role, but have to go through the hiring process as formality - what's your mindset on this?

Background: I'd been attempting to get my foot in the door in NSW public sector for years. I've always known it's an uphill battle to break in against internal hiring.

I'd had many interviews over the years, and often wondered if I was just 'making up the numbers' so that the hiring manager could tick a box and hire the internal candidate they wanted all along. I often wondered if my applications were a waste of time, but I'd never know what really went on behind closed doors.

Now the shoe is finally on the other foot. I'm the internal candidate. One of my former managers from a temp contract has kept in contact with me, about an upcoming ongoing opening in their team. It's been stated they want me back.

Right now I feel like as long as my application and interview tick the boxes, I'm in. But I don't want to be presumptuous either.

I guess I'm wondering if this happens a lot? Have you ever hired someone but had to go through the proper steps just to get the person you wanted? Did you ignore potentially better candidates? If so, how does that work?

Any tips/advice/encouragement for resigning from a contract

I'm a couple months into a fairly long-term grade 5/6 contract (almost 24 month) in NSW Govt.

For context, there is a 7/8 in my team who is also on a rolling contract for the past 3-4 years. This person is very good at their job. I mention this because I feel there is not much room to move up/into ongoing at this dept.

I have been offered an ongoing 9/10, this was an opening at a previous agency I'd worked at that I've been eyeing/waiting for and it finally came up. There is also room for me to move up in this role.

Obviously it's a no-brainer to accept the 9/10 role.

However I'm a bit stuck on how to approach the chat with my manager.

I just feel a little shitty leaving a contract after a few months.

I'm sure he'll understand the opportunity angle - I'm just worried about how long it takes to hire and getting someone else in, I feel like I'm leaving my team in a kinda rough spot. But OTOH, I'm not really being utilised that much (yet) and i'm only a few months in.

Any advice for how to approach this?
