Living in Freiburg — what are the best 1–2 day trips in Germany?

Hey everyone,

I’m based in Freiburg and feel like I’m seriously underexploring Germany.

Looking for 1–2 day solo trips (excluding travel time) that are actually worth it — not just touristy checklist stuff.

Main preference: Germany 🇩🇪

(but open to Switzerland/France if it’s truly special)

I’m into:

Mountains / nature that feels a bit intense

Quiet places to walk and reset

Some adventure (hikes, cable cars, etc.)

Also wouldn’t mind catching a local football match with a great atmosphere

From people who live here what’s something nearby that genuinely stood out to you?

Thanks!

Travelling solo to France, need suggestions regarding the same.

Hey everyone!

I’m a student based in southern Germany and I’m thinking of doing a short solo trip to France (around 1–2 days) on a pretty tight budget. I’ve had places like Lyon and Paris recommended, but I’d love to hear more suggestions.

I’m especially into:

\- Walking around cities with beautiful architecture and old-town vibes

\- Watching football (would be amazing to catch a local match or experience the atmosphere)

\- Nature spots — parks, rivers, viewpoints, or anything scenic nearby

Ideally looking for places that are easy to reach and won’t break the bank for a short trip.

Any recommendations for cities, specific neighborhoods, or things to do? Also open to tips on cheap travel, food, or accommodation!

Thanks in advance :)

Can I have a HiWi and a minijob as a student at the same time?

If yes, how does the taxation work in this case? Which one of my jobs will be taxes? In my case the HiWi will be my main employer.

Solo Trip

Hey zusammen,

Danke euch :)
