Sony RDR-VX525 Repair
We recently lost a loved one, and found this vcr/dvd/recorder player at their house with many family VHS tapes we would love to watch.
It powers on, but the other controls seem to do nothing (on machine or remote). Eject will not open the dvd tray to put a disc in. I see no tiny reset hole.
I have it hooked to power in the wall outlet. I was trying hdmi to tv, but never tried to confirm it read it, since no discs can go in. I am not sure I will chance putting a vhs in until I can determine something is functioning.
Is it possible that even those basic functions are unavailable unless it is plugged into a cable box? I don’t have one, but it’s mentioned on set up. I assumed it’s optional.
What can I try? I know only what I can have google tell me!
