So Cassie's OnlyFans venture looks ridiculous on purpose, right?
TL:DR Cassie is so dumb she can't sell big boobs on OnlyFans, that's the joke. Her costumes are not sexual at all and meant to look banal, vulgar and repulsive. Because she has no idea what she's doing.
I caught myself thinking that sex scenes in Euphoria have never been about the sex itself. The kids didn't explore poses, talk about what they like, played with toys, lubes, roleplay, nothing. Only Kat played dominatrix in a cheap leather skirt and a mask once, that's what everybody's idea of BDSM.
It's always been a show about hurt teenagers finding their way, exploring their desires, facing struggles and hurting their close ones. Sex was just a way to feel the high or in control or comforted in their body but never orgasm.
So it only makes sense that the S3 follows that course. There have been no sex scenes so far but there's Cassie's story and I'm starting to think it looks bad on purpose because it's a joke.
Cassie's storyline is about a bored housewife discovering OnlyFans and other people kinks through Google Image Search. She has absolutely no idea or direction of what she's doing and for whom. Since she always has been a people pleaser she has no sense of her own self and her tastes in anything sexual.
It's deliberately demonstrated through a variety of cookie cutter looks. They are vague ideas of a sexy dog or sexy baby or whatever. The costumes are banal, vulgar and repulsive because Cassie does not know a single thing about sexual. Cassie and Nate only saw sex on Pornhub like most teenagers so it's natural her sexual imagery looks like bad porn.
I'm not sure she even likes sex as a process. Like did she cum even once? Did her men do oral or dirty talk? Her main character trait was trying to please her men so naturally she might only like sex not because it's enjoyable but because that's how she's necessary to men.
My other minor gripe. I've seen people discussing the gagging scene as if that's another fetish. Personally I saw nothing sexual in that. If anything swallowing those drug bags is a dirty, repulsive and humiliating procedure. So the scene shows Rue's work routine through the imagery and sounds specifically to make you uncomfortable and feel for her. She's there because Laurie absolutely despises her and puts her through the single most dehumanizing job.
I don't really try to defend Levinson's deranged mind here. But maybe I'm starting to see the vision in this and it kinda doesn't look that bad as the reviews or the overall vibe make you think. Although it's just one episode.
