The way late night lirr customers are treated is absolute bs even more so at Jamaica then I thought
You know those waiting rooms that your tax dollars and train tickets paid for? all closed. even at a main transfer station like Jamaica they ain't open go freeze in the cold I've know this is BS for a long time but I decided since I have a half hour for my train I may as well use the bathroom. I know they have one in The part of the station that connects to the Air train
I walk up there some bean counter stops me and is like "where are u going" I say "the air train?" she's like "right but where, are you going to the airport?" I say "does the airtrain go anywhere else?" she's like "ok let me see your plane ticket or boarding pass" Lucky for me I was able to think fast I said "I'm going to Federal circle a friend of mine is picking me up there" then she's like oh ok and let me through and I was able to use the bathroom.
like I know a lot about NYC Transit so I was smart enough to say the right line so that I would be let through anyway but what about other LIRR riders with a small bladder who is honest? they should just piss themselves? what about people who are sensitive to heat or cold? they don't get to go to the climate controlled part of they station they are using as a part of a rail service that they paid for twice over? (with their ticket and taxes) also we got to pay someone to stand around to check Even though there's no way of verifying if somebody's being honest? And even if someone is being fully honest what's stopping someone from just buying a refundable plane ticket showing it to them and then refunding it 3 minutes later? like who came up with these rules and regulations? was any thought put into them?I have half a mind to go full Karen and ask to speak to there manager.
why are waiting rooms closed at night? when it's colder out and the trains are less frequent If anything goes with the only times waiting rooms SHOULD be open because that's when they are most useful
the Long Island Rail Road ought to be ashamed of itself and we as New Yorkers ought to be ashamed of ourselves because they are accountable to us
and then the unions have the nerve to ask for more more more in negotiations as CLEARLY they are doing such a wonderful job serving the public bothering people for plane tickets when they shouldn't need them (admittedly I wasn't looking that closely It's possible the person there works for the Port authority since it was close to the Air train part of Jamaica station but the Port authority is still just as accountable to the public except it's just accountable the public's of New York and New Jersey instead of just New York and It's demonstrative of a broader pattern within the Long Island railroad anyway to not give a damn about late night travelers)
