Co-op at Sauder

Hey everyone, I’m looking into the Sauder Co-op intake for this year and had a few questions for anyone in the program:

  1. The 4-Year Grind: Is it actually possible to finish the degree + co-op in 4 years? Or does the co-op office basically force you into a 5th year?
  2. The Jobs: Where are people actually landing? Are the placements actually "top tier" (Big 4, banks, etc.), or is it mostly mid-level admin stuff?
  3. Entry: How hard is it to get in? Does a high GPA carry you, or is it all about the interview?
  4. Value: Is the COOL portal actually better than just applying to internships on LinkedIn by yourself?

Appreciate any "wish I knew this sooner" advice. Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I’m looking into the Double Degree (BBA/BSc) in Management & Finance + Statistics (Quant stream) and had a few questions about the co-op experience here:

  1. The 4-Year Grind: The calendar says students work or study every term (trimester style). For Double Degree, is it actually possible to finish in 4 years, or is it a guaranteed 5-year slog because of the 25.0 credit requirement?
  2. The Jobs: Since this is a more quantitative degree, are people actually landing Quant or Data Science roles? Or are we mostly competing for the same Big 4 accounting/finance roles as the regular BBA students?
  3. Entry/GPA: How high does the CGPA really need to be? Is the 2.5 minimum a "hard" rule, or do you need a 3.5+ to be competitive for the actually good finance jobs on the portal?
  4. CSM (The Portal) vs. LinkedIn: Is the Management Co-op portal (CSM) actually better for finance/stats roles, or is it mostly just local GTA marketing/admin jobs?

Appreciate any insight from anyone currently surviving this double degree!
