Just found out my nearly 70-year-old dad can’t use a washing machine…
When I was growing up, my dad worked away a lot and my mum worked part-time, so she ended up doing most of the housework.
My mum’s about to go in for an operation, and my dad’s “plan” is to pile up the laundry until she’s recovered, which feels… optimistic.
I genuinely thought that once I’d moved out, especially after my dad retired, they’d started sharing chores a bit more—but clearly not.
I’ll obviously step in and show him how to use it, but I’m slightly baffled he’s made it this far without ever washing clothes.
Anyone else had to teach their parents basic life stuff like this?
