Sick of just 'grabbing drinks' — HUGE extrovert looking for social clubs/new hobbies

I've been living in B.A. for a few months now and haven't found my 'people' yet.

I’m ready to move past the "standard" expat drinking meetups. I’m looking for the kind of groups where you see the same faces & actually build something.

I’m open to anything so feel free to send me some ideas.

I love comedy, board games, live music/dancing, writing, video games, skateboarding, and want to keep working on my Spanish.

Any replies would be helpful - THANKS

My conversational classes are going fine, I have a few new students with very low levels of English, and I’m struggling to keep up. I feel like I’m spending hours every week digging through thousands of random worksheets and websites just to piece together a 60-minute lesson.

I need a structured book or curriculum (ideally something I can find as a free PDF or buy cheaply) where I can just "open and go." I need something that actually progresses logically so I’m not reinventing the wheel every week.

Has anyone used a specific textbook series that works well for absolute beginners? I’ve heard of English File and Headway—are these the best for a "zero level" student, or is there something better for a stressed-out new teacher? Thanks in advance!
