Unpopular opinion: I actually like Aubry more over time

I really had like no opinion on her during Kaoh Rong, I was rooting for Michele in the finale but neither one of them were anywhere close to my favorite or least favorite of the season.

I think its moreso how "ironic" her legacy is rather than her herself but I actually like her more over time. I just find it hilarious that she was brought back for Game Changers, the editors pretended like she didn't exist that season, and than for some reason she's chosen to come back four seasons later. She doesn't play well there and is pretty much totally ignored the second half of the season, plus if you pay close attention to the final returnee challenge, SHE DOESN'T EVEN MAKE IT PAST THE FIRST PORTION OF THE CHALLENGE. She really becomes the poster girl for "sometimes its best to just have one really iconic season rather than keep on returning and being less than impressive both times." Then this next season is all good to go, but Amanda drops out last minute, who's her replacement? Aubry, who literally was not ever on any rumored cast last I saw pre-season, she literally pops out of complete nowhere.

Another thing I will note going into this season is I actually seriously considered Aubry as quite possibly the luckiest player (other than Sandra) her first three seasons. Whenever she was in danger, her tribe won immunity. And whenever she was fine, her tribe lost immunity. Than she was saved by things like Neal's medevac as well. The season isn't complete yet but Aubry's luck has been insane this season, probably the most lucky she's gotten of all four seasons. She (kind of deservedly) has a target on her back immediately and yet is gifted an idol and tribe always wins immunity. She also is playing just a super bizarre game where in Jeff's "celebration" season she seems like she'd love to be anywhere but on the show and spends a lot of her time bashing the other contestants. And she's just been in this weird place of "nowheresville" where she seemingly has like no alliances. Its really honestly kind of a fascinating game to watch IMO.

Another thing that I love about her is that the fact that literally nothing else the show does supports the fact they "love her/view her as iconic." She wasn't included in Jeff's card game, she wasn't on the March Madness bracket that happened almost right after GC, she hasn't been chosen for any promotional events, she wasn't on any of the DVD covers except for KR, and honestly she wasn't even really the star of her season (it was moreso Tai who was seen as that). And yet she's still always chosen to return whenever they do a returnee season.

Her legacy just keeps getting more bizarre (and IMO iconic) lol.
