Kaiser approach to perimenopause
I am 39 and sure I’ve been in perimenopause for at least a few years. It’s absolutely awful! I’m such a mess. Mood swings, night sweats, weight gain, brain fog, fatigue, bloating, anxiety and depression. I finally took the leap to discuss with Kaiser and big surprise, they don’t treat perimenopause, they only start HRT for menopause. Their golden standard is birth control pills, labs to rule out other conditions, and Lexapro. The anxiety, depression, and roller coaster of moods and emotions has been debilitating. I’m considering the Lexapro and got a prescription. I’m not interested in birth control pills. Do you think my quality of life will improve enough with the Lexapro or should I consider HRT through a private pay source?
