Family is threatening to put me on a conservatorship

Location: Colorado

For reference, I am a 39 year old female with a full-time teaching job and a master’s degree. I am also a homeowner and single but the mother of 2 amazing sons. I have never been convicted of a crime or have any health diagnoses that affect my ability to take care of myself (just anxiety and depression but not severe).

I have been having some financial issues lately that I recently came clean about to my mother. I missed a mortgage payment and was struggling with some bills. I have a second job in catering but recently stopped getting offers to work so I’m looking for something new.

Anyway, I am beyond baffled because my mom just told me that her, my step-dad and my ex-husband want to put me on a conservatorship because of my money troubles. To be clear, this is the first time I have struggled with my finances and I haven’t even asked for help.

Would any judge in the world allow this to happen. I am downright refusing as I believe they are being absurd and I have never even asked them for money. I can’t think straight because I am so upset that my mother would even suggest that.

Any advice is appreciated.
