I’ll be moving to Lisbon soon and am looking to get back into the Latin dance scene, mainly salsa, bachata, and kizomba. I’ve trained at a basic level in all three, so I’m now more interested in finding places with a good social vibe and consistent dancing.

For those already dancing in the city, how is the scene overall, and how easy is it to find regular socials during the week?

Also open to recommendations for schools that are known for solid technique and a good crowd, not necessarily beginner-focused, but somewhere that balances learning with social dancing.

Would appreciate any local insight on where people tend to dance and how the scene flows across the week.

For those currently living in Lisbon, especially in Estrela, Campo de Ourique, or nearby areas:

I’m in the process of narrowing down where to rent and would really value some on-the-ground insight.

Rather than general impressions, I’m trying to understand the micro-level realities. Are there specific streets, pockets, or even blocks within these neighbourhoods that you would actively avoid due to factors like noise (traffic, flight paths, nightlife), construction, or tourist spillover?

Equally, if there are quieter, more residential streets within these same areas that you’d recommend, I’d love to hear those too.

My priorities are walkability, a calmer residential feel, and good natural light, without being completely cut off from the city.

Appreciate any specific guidance you can share.

I’m in the process of relocating to Lisbon and currently exploring areas like Campo de Ourique, Avenidas Novas, and nearby neighbourhoods.

On paper, many of these areas seem quite similar, but I’d really value input from people who have actually lived in them.

How would you describe the day-to-day experience across different neighbourhoods in terms of:

– Overall vibe and pace of life
– Safety, especially in the evenings
– Convenience and walkability
– Noise levels and general quality of living

Also, were there any areas you initially considered but later ruled out after spending time there?

Appreciate any first-hand insights.

For those who’ve recently moved to Lisbon, what has the reality been like compared to what you expected?

I’m relocating soon and trying to understand the on-ground experience, especially for people coming from India or similar contexts.

Would appreciate insights on:
– Rental market and dealing with landlords
– Actual monthly costs vs planned budgets
– Social integration and day-to-day lifestyle
– Anything that caught you off guard after moving

Looking for honest, current perspectives rather than general impressions.

I’ll be moving to Lisbon at the end of May 2026 and will be based in Alvalade for the first few weeks.

I’m currently looking for a long-term rental (1–2 years), ideally around 90–110 sqm in areas like Campo de Ourique or Campolide.

I’ve started exploring Idealista and have spoken to a couple of agents, but I’d really appreciate some practical advice on:
🔹areas that are well-suited for someone new to the city
🔹what to watch out for when renting
🔹whether working with agents vs direct owners tends to be more effective

Would be grateful for any insights from those who’ve gone through this recently.
