Hey everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me clear up some confusion regarding my work authorization. I just received my official Letter of Completion from my college today (May 1st, 2026). My current study permit is actually valid until the end of the year (December 31st), and I also have a study permit extension application that’s been pending since April 1st.
I’ve been reading through different threads and checking the IRCC site, but I feel like I’m getting mixed responses online. Some people say that because my permit is still valid and I have maintained status through my extension, I’m good to keep working off-campus. Others are saying I have to stop the second that letter hits my inbox regardless of the expiry date on my permit.
I really don’t want to jeopardize my future by working illegally, so I’m trying to be extra careful. Has anyone been in this exact situation with a pending extension? Do I need to stop working immediately, or does the "maintained status" from my extension give me a bridge to keep working my part-time job? Any advice or official links would be a lifesaver. Thanks!
