MSc Economic Policy for International Development at the London School of Economics

Hey everyone,

I’m considering applying to the MSc Economic Policy for International Development at the London School of Economics, and I’d really appreciate some honest advice.

I’m from Pakistan with a bachelor’s in International Relations, and this would be a self-funded degree for me, so the investment is quite significant.

My goals are to build a strong understanding of the global economy, work at the intersection of policy and business, and eventually move into advisory or policy roles while also growing my own business ventures.

For those who have done this program or know about it:

  • Is it worth it in terms of ROI (career opportunities, exposure, network)?
  • How valuable is it for someone coming from a non-economics background like IR?
  • Does it actually help in breaking into policy, consulting, or international organizations?

I’d really appreciate honest, realistic feedback—especially from people who’ve taken a similar path or are from developing countries.

Thanks in advance!
