The way kroger treats its employees
From the store manager
Edit: For some extra context this was sent out by each store manager to all of its employees in district 1 of the ohio Cincinnati/Dayton division, potentially other districts as well but i can only verify my own. Im not going to give my specific store number for obvious reasons but you can find each store on google with that information. We are unionized by UFCW (already bad btw) and to my knowledge they allowed this recent change. Kroger has no accrual for sick days like some have mentioned. Those who think this is rage bait, i dont think anyone has to fake a post to make a billion dollar company look bad, they do it to themselves.

Good morning, Jesters! I wanted to share a funny moment I had with my wife last night.
We discuss crypto here and there, and she knows all about 401jK and loves it. I fill her in on what the different crypto terms and jargon mean. She gets amusement and a laugh out of the crypto slang, as do I.
Now to last night:
My wife wasn’t feeling well and while she was lying in bed, I started to scratch/massage her back:
Her: laughing
Me: “What?”
Her: laughing harder
Me: “Seriously, what’s so hilarious?”
Her: “Maybe you could use your diamond hands to scratch my back instead of using your nubby paper hands”
Me: 😱☠️🪦……….
We both couldn’t stop laughing. It was a small funny moment I thought I’d share.
Anyway, don’t forget to Resist & Retire, Break the System, and F*ck the System🃏

Good evening, Jester family 🩶
I wanted to take a minute to discuss a little mental health. We post a lot about current events around the world regarding finance, and unfortunately, they mostly aren’t positive. We call out the fraud and corruption, but we don’t want to inundate the community with just all corruption. It takes a toll mentally, whether you realize it or not. Constant negative news being shoved in your face has been proven scientifically, that to cause a significant increase in depression and anxiety (especially so with social media). We will do better as a community to make sure we don’t just post about negative news.
The finance world in general, but crypto specifically, has caused a lot of financial ruin and hardships, that can lead down a dark road.
Please take the time to read this article if you can, and maybe you can make some small changes to improve your mental health.
We are here for everyone, 401jK community member or not. Please reach out and talk to someone. Anyone in the community will be happy to listen and provide support.

I'm a Project Manager at a mid-sized commercial construction company. The first time I picked up a hammer on a job site was about 7 years ago, and I had no background in construction. I was raised with the idea of 'work hard and you'll succeed,' and I really believed in it.
For the first 18 months, I absorbed everything I could about the industry. I was the guy studying blueprints and catalogs in my own time, just to get better. Because of that, they made me a crew lead. They put me on a small job at a complex with 15 buildings and 150 units. It started as a small project, but the Homeowners Association (HOA) loved my work ethic and how I delivered everything on time and under budget. Because of that initial success, we landed a massive contract from them.
That was 4 years ago. Since then, my role has grown exponentially. I was essentially the foreman, superintendent, and project manager all in one. I handled everything: client meetings with the board and engineers, invoicing, scheduling crews, material procurement, and even training subcontractors on new product installations because our management was so weak. The total project billing exceeded $2.5 million. Then we were asked to bid on a new $4 million phase at the same complex.
All this time, the HOA board was telling me how they had tried several contractors before us and that my project management was the reason they stuck with our company. This gave me the confidence to finally ask my bosses for the raise they had been promising me for 10 months. Their response? 'The experience you're gaining is worth so much more.' But the final straw came at a company meeting a few weeks later, when they bragged about the profits my project was generating, and then told me I wouldn't be getting an end-of-year bonus.
That was it for me. I polished up my CV, and a recruiter contacted me almost immediately. Last week, I accepted a new job: $90k salary, full benefits, 30 days of paid time off, and a proper office - no more managing a multi-million dollar project from the driver's seat of my pickup truck. They're also giving me a company laptop, a mobile hotspot for my truck for when I visit our out-of-state sites, a $75 per diem, they'll match 100% of my 401k contributions for the first 4 years, and quarterly bonuses. My current company pays me $45k. That's it. No benefits, no perks, nothing.
On Monday morning, I put the offer letter on their desk, and the look on their faces was priceless. When they couldn't even come close to matching the offer, I informed the HOA president that I was resigning. The man's jaw dropped. He immediately requested a meeting with my bosses and told them he had serious reservations about the new project without me at the helm.
They have no one who can step in and take over this job. And honestly, it feels damn good knowing they're feeling this in their wallets after I gave them my all for 7 years. All I asked for was an industry-standard salary for the work I was doing. Fuck those greedy bastards.
Edit : if I want to teach you something from this story is to know your worth and never let someone use you just for his own things you can find better jobs and better work environments easily with the new phase of remote jobs and AI tools like interviewman who can help you in answering perfectly every job question you got in seconds so do not ever waste your expensive time and energy on toxic people work ,all the best
