What are your thoughts on the new "afrocentric" public school program MN?

So for those not aware:

https://benmays.spps.org/about/new-for-2025-26-afrocentric-program

Apparently the Saint Paul public school district has decided to make an "afrocentric focused public program" that will replace its International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

From their website:

"the Afrocentric program at Benjamin E. Mays will offer a unique, enriching and rigorous educational experience, "through the lens of Black history," designed to empower all scholars to achieve their full potential."

So they are replacing the internationally recognized IB program for a an afro centric one with no external recognition.

So what are your thoughts on this? Do you support this idea or does it just set a bad precedent? Or is it just pointless pandering that is ultimately sacrificing the future of the children for this?

Edit: oh and forgot to ask, do you support or oppose this using tax payer funds? Like if this was a private academy would you accept it but not as a publicly funded program or do.you support public school funds going towards this?

Do you think Hollywood and entertainment media has become a net negative for the left when they engage in politics?

So I was wondering this as I was seeing the autopsy of the failure that was Star Trek: Star Fleet Academy and how many od the stars and the show itself leaned heavily in the standard millennial political messaging that Hollywood has been using for the last decade.

And looking back at the Harris campaign, a big thing I saw alot of people talking about is how they viewed things like Taylor Swift and others commenting as being annoying and almost down talk-y. And much of the things the right criticizes the left on seems to come from how Hollywood acts, vs the average American lefty.

So, as the title says, has political endorsements and messaging from Hollywood and entertainment media (so things like music artists and such) started to have a detrimental effect on left causes?

Should drafts be gender neutral or does pragmatism trump equality?

So this question came to me after seeing this article:

https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2026/04/14/8030112/

It seems that Pres Zelenskyy is calling all draft age men back to Ukraine and is trying to get countries these men fled to to extradite them back to Ukraine.

The post I saw this article in brought up that many Ukrainian men have been feeling unfairly treated with the draft as you have Ukrainian women instagramming and partying and enjoying themselves in Kyiv while their male peers have to live in fear of being drafted and sent to die in a seemingly endless meat grinder.

At the same time as this we have the US federal gov implementing an automatic enrollment of all draft eligible men for the draft, and only men. And obv alot of guys I've seen have consistently brought up how its unfair.

So what are your thoughts on male only draft? Should it be required of all people? And when in a situation like Ukraine where their very existence is on the line should the burden lpf defense fall solely on men?

Edit: oh I guess I should clarify i meant in general or in principle regardless of how likely a draft may or may not be in regards to the US.

What are your thoughts on transit fares, fare enforcement, and state of public transit?

So I saw this pop up on my feed which gave me this question:

https://mynorthwest.com/kiro-opinion/king-county-fare-enforcement/4228805

King Country Metro had 30 full time fare enforcement officers, who worked a total of 40k hours, and they issued.... 8 citations. And voided all of them. The budget for the program is $3M in 2026. The reason stated for the voiding was because bad contact information was gathered as the Enforcement officers dont actually have any real authority. And this is by design. The program was created by the County council intentionally without any teeth because "actual enforcement, real citations, and real consequences may fall unevenly across racial groups. So instead we created built a system where fare enforcement officers aren't really there to enforce. They are there to connect riders to resources. To educate and build a culture of riding right"

So if this is the case... why even have fares? If you are not going to enforce fare payment why even have have fares at that point as you are just tacitly accepting thay the fare is optional?

So what are your thoughts? Should we be strictly enforcing fares or should public transit be free? And what kf the concerns regarding how free transit is often treated?

What are your thoughts on school "No fail" policies?

So I was seeing that apparently some schools have been implementing a "no fail" policy where a student cannot be failed. From what I have seen it can vary from not being able to fail a student due to attendance here in NC (so a student can be skipping most of their class but still won't be failed if they maintain a passing grade, which let's be honest is not a very high bar) to straight up having no failing grades... lime the lowest a person.l could score is a D.

Some of the supposed benefits I have supports say is that having having no failing grades means students can focus on learning, improves mental health and stress as they are not worried abiut trying to pass, and is more "equitable" because it means students without certain resources cannot be failed for the lack the resources.

So what is your thoughts on this?

Me personally I think it is absolutely freaking stupid. The benefit lf "enabling focusing on learning over grading" just feels.... so naive. Like this is primary school. Students are going to just take advantage of this to screw around. And when you got things like this going on (https://foxbaltimore.com/news/project-baltimore/77-tested-at-baltimore-high-school-read-at-elementary-level-71-at-kindergarten), we may need to start being mkre strict with students...
