LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine (10300) - one of the best movie sets LEGO has done?

Was revisiting the DeLorean set, and it’s impressive how much they packed into it. Building the DeLorean as the Part I, II, or III version already makes it feel more substantial than most display sets.

The little details are what stand out, though. The flux capacitor, the hover conversion, the different license plates… it really feels like it was designed by people who actually care about the films.

Build-wise, it’s not too overwhelming, but still detailed enough to stay captivating throughout. It sits in that appealing middle ground where it’s engaging without being exhausting like some of the massive sets.

The only downside is you can’t display all three versions at once unless you rebuild it, which might be a dealbreaker for some.

Curious what others think:

  • Which version did you build, Part I, II, or III?
  • Do you typically rebuild it, or do you prefer to stick with one version?
  • Where does this rank compared to other movie-based LEGO sets?

It seems to be one of the most comprehensive fan-service sets that LEGO has released.

LEGO Titanic (10294): Incredible build or just too much?

I've been looking into the LEGO Titanic, and honestly, it feels like one of those sets you either fully commit to or avoid completely.

At over 9,000 pieces, it’s massive, both in build time and display size. The level of detail is truly impressive, though. The cross-section design showing cabins, decks, and internal structure is probably one of the most impressive things LEGO has done.

From what I’ve seen, it’s less about play and more about the experience. This is the kind of set you take your time with over multiple sessions, rather than finishing in a weekend.

That said, the size is also the biggest drawback. You really need the space to display it properly; otherwise, it feels like overkill. It’s definitely not a casual build.

Curious what others think:

  • Is it worth the time and space?
  • How does it compare to other large builds like the Colosseum or UCS sets?
  • Did you enjoy the build process or find it repetitive?

It feels like one of LEGO’s most impressive sets, but also one of the most demanding.

LEGO 007 Aston Martin DB5 (76911), a small set but surprisingly solid?

I was looking at this Speed Champions DB5 and wasn’t expecting much beyond a basic display car, but it actually holds up pretty well for its size.

The shape is instantly recognizable, which is impressive given how compact these builds are. The front grille and overall proportions do a decent job of capturing that classic Bond look. It’s not super detailed, of course, but for the scale, it works.

Build-wise, it’s quick and straightforward, nothing too complex, but still satisfying. It feels like one of those sets you can complete in a short session and still enjoy the final result.

What I find intriguing is where it sits. It’s not really a centerpiece display like the larger Creator Expert DB5, but it’s also not just a throwaway build. It strikes a nice balance between simplicity and shelf appeal.

We’ve added it to our site as well for anyone who wants to try it out without buying: https://www.lendabrick.com/

Curious what others think:

  • How does the model compare to other Speed Champions cars?
  • Is it a worthwhile purchase if you already own the larger DB5?
  • Or does it feel a bit too simplified?

Feels like a solid option if you like cars but don’t want a massive build.

LEGO Ideas Typewriter (21327) - one of the most satisfying display builds?

Revisited this set recently, and it still feels like one of the most unique LEGO Ideas releases. The typewriter (21327) isn’t just about how it looks; it’s the way it functions that makes it stand out.

The keys are actually connected to a working mechanism, so when you press them, the typebars move. The carriage even shifts across as you "type," which is a detail I didn’t expect to be as satisfying as it is. It’s one of those builds where you keep interacting with it even after you’re done.

It’s definitely more of a display piece than a playset, but that’s the point. It looks fantastic on a desk or shelf, especially if you’re into vintage or creative-themed builds.

At the same time, it’s not the quickest build-out there. There’s a lot of repetition, but if you enjoy seeing mechanical systems come together, that’s part of the appeal.

We’ve added it to our site as well for anyone who wants to try the build without buying: https://www.lendabrick.com/

Curious what others think:

  • Did you enjoy the build or find it repetitive?
  • Where does this rank among LEGO Ideas sets for you?
  • Is the model something you’d actually display long-term?

Feels like one of those sets that’s less about play and more about the building experience itself.

LEGO Icons The Friends Apartments (10292): Nostalgic masterpiece or just fan service?

Came across this set again recently, and it really feels like one of LEGO’s most detailed TV-inspired builds. If you’ve watched Friends, the layout is instantly recognizable: Monica’s apartment, Chandler & Joey’s place, all packed into one display.

What stands out is how many references they managed to fit in. From the turkey head scene to the canoe, it’s full of those small details that fans will catch right away. It almost feels like a set you explore more than just build.

The build itself isn’t overly complicated, but it’s quite satisfying, especially seeing both apartments come together side by side. It’s clearly designed with display in mind, more of a centerpiece than a playset.

That said, it does feel very targeted. If you’re not a Friends fan, I’m not sure it hits the same way. But if you are, it’s packed with nostalgia.

We’ve added it to our site as well for anyone who wants to try the build without committing to buying: https://www.lendabrick.com/

Curious what others think:

  • Is this one of the best TV/LEGO crossover sets?
  • Or does it rely too much on nostalgia?
  • How does it compare to other sitcom sets like Seinfeld or The Office?

Would love to hear where people rank this set among the LEGO Icons lineup.

LEGO Venomised Groot (76249) - Genius Mashup or Just Plain Weird?

LEGO Venomised Groot (76249)—cool concept or a bit weird?

Not sure how everyone else felt when the set was revealed, but this has to be one of the more unusual Marvel/LEGO crossovers. Groot and Venom aren't exactly an obvious combo, yet somehow it kind of works.

Seeing it built, the tendrils wrapping around Groot actually add a lot of character. It gives the model a slightly darker, more dynamic look compared to the standard Groot builds. The poseability helps too; you can move the arms, fingers, and head enough to get some really solid display poses.

It’s not a huge or super complex build, but it feels like one of those sets that’s more about the idea and presentation than size. Definitely something that stands out on a shelf, especially if you’ve got other Marvel sets nearby.

What I find intriguing is that it sits in a weird middle ground. It’s not quite a traditional display model, but it’s also not just a playset. It seems as though LEGO is experimenting a bit with mashups.

We’ve added it to our site as well for anyone who just wants to try the build without buying: https://www.lendabrick.com/

Curious where people land on this build:

  • Does this crossover actually work for you?
  • Is it something you’d display, or just a one-time build?
  • How does it compare to the other Groot sets out there?

Feels like one of those sets people either really like or completely skip.
