Ocean-front walk from Cascais towards Lisbon, then train

Ola! Thinking of doing the ocean front path walk from Cascais back towards Lisbon and just hoping on train the rest of the back. Maybe late afternoon and stopping along the way and getting dinner oceanside at some point at the end of the walk.

Thinking of walking from Cascais to Praia de Parede maybe?

Advice? What’s the path like? Is there a path the whole way and not just walking on the edge of a road?

I see a “Trilho da Pedra do Sal” on my Apple Maps with no extra info. Looked also on Wikiloc but not much recent info.

What’s the best point to get on the train along this route to head back into Lisbon?

Obrigada

Hiking from Sintra- Santa Maria Trail -up to Moorish castle- down Vila Sassetti trail

Ola!

Last summer we hiked down from Pena Palace to Vila Sassetti and into Sintra. Loved it! A trip highlight for myself and teenage kids!

This summer aiming to go down the same loop … but this time also hike up.

Thinking of doing the Santa Maria trail up to Moorish castle, starting from town at Sintra train station, thru the park, then up as I’ve heard this trail is much easier going up.

Happy to give tips/thoughts on the Vila Sassetti trail for anyone wondering. It is steep but amazing & 100% worth hiking down. Going up would be quite exhausting. Considering it, being I know it and enjoyed it and will be solo this time.

But would prefer to try this new to me trail up. Would love to hear from someone who’s done it in the last year or two especially.

Obrigada!

Campo Pequeno in Lisbon recs?

Ola!

I’ll be working in Portugal for a month and staying in Campo Pequeno, a spot picked out by locals we are working with. Seems cool.

Any must eats or great bookstores or shops or thrift stores or cool places or relaxing little bars or coffee shops to hang out/chill/ sit and write in?

Any places to steer clear of in this or surrounding areas?

Seems very walkable and convenient.

Where to purchase a used travel/portable beach umbrella & beach chair in Lisbon or Cascais & also where to donate them later??

Gonna be in Lisbon for a month for work and thinking might be great to have one of those little collapsible beach / camp chairs that fold up into a backpack. For ultimate reading at the beach comfort without being tied to one beach or have to rent a chair/spot for a whole day.

I was thinking of bringing mine from home as it’s perfect and light but it will take valuable souvenir space for return flight :(

So thinking of buying maybe a used one there.

I got the one I like at REI- is there an outdoors store like that there ? They also sell them on Amazon and at Costco.

Or even better is there a resale shop that has those kinds of things in Lisbon or Cascais or that general area?

Or even a store that sells those things on the cheap?

And also need a place to donate them back to at the end of my trip.

Obrigada!!

Sóller -hike from town, transport, recs & more ??

Hola!

If I stay in Palma (maybe near the Miro museum or by the conference center— as hubby has a conference there), how long will it take me to get up to Soller to do the easy hikes to the cool little villages on the GR221 trail? And how long will that hiking loop take?

I’m also interested in hiking down to the sea and maybe taking the old tram back into soller on the Ami de rost trail, I think it’s called. Heard 45 minutes for that?

This would be my 18 yr old daughter and me and we both like hiking and have done for years. So thinking these will be pretty easy for us. Anyone have recs from experience? Regular sneakers ok for this?

Are there restaurants to get coffee or pastries on either route in the little towns or other recs in those little spots to definitely see and not just hike thru?

Thinking public transport from Palma to Soller as I’ve heard uber/bolt not really a thing there?

We won’t be renting a car. Don’t want that hassle. Plus generally enjoy watching the scenery go by.

Historic train sounds interesting but would that limit our times to go up there and come back? Perhaps take just back?? Can you just get a ticket right there and then and is it worth that extra cost compared to the regular bus?

Thinking late June, so going earlier like 8am?? Is this a practical time in Mallorca? When do things actually open for good coffee?

Also want to explore Soller itself.

Have lunch there or at the port de Soller.

Any recs for book lovers and art lovers in any of these spots?

We heard that train station has Picasso and Miro art. Anything else?

How much better would it be to stay in Soller for two nights? And if we did that would it be difficult getting there from the airport? How much would a taxi be at 8pm on a Thursday night and is that practical? Would it be better to stay first night in Palma the bus up to Soller for 2 nights then back down to Palma for the conference?

Other recs for wineries to visit near train or bus on the island from Soller and/or Palma?

Gracias!
