Cyberdeck concept?

I just learned about cyberdecks from my cousin earlier today. Instantly I was enamored. I have some experience with raspberry pi’s but not enough to feel confident. I’ve got an idea of what I want but I’m not sure if I need the 8gb pi 5 or the 16gb or if I should invest in something even more powerful like a x86 pc. I was also wondering if this concept is feasible.

Btw I’m an aspiring geologist so I was hoping to use this as my fieldwork companion.

My long list of cyberdeck desires: long battery life for field work, rugged case for rock climbing n such, digital radio, flashlight, uv flashlight, geology infor/map database, play store and record videos and images, carry large amounts of data, take notes, play music, gps, a lot of sensors… :temp, humidity, elevation, compass, air quality, accelerometers, magnenometers, geophone, and lidar sensor. I also heard I could run simple ais so I was hoping I could have one to help with rock/formation identification.

Is this insane? How big would this get? I was originally hoping to have this as a bracer but I’m not sure I have enough forearm for that. I’m guessing this is going to be like a thousand dollars over a year or so. I was also thinking I’d start with the basic parts of the machine and add more of the geological sensors later. Any tips on making sure my machine can handle all the sensors when I add them later?

Ps I love how this community makes every container available into a cyberdeck. I’ll never look at a box the same way.
