Which City do you think aesthetically matches the Horns of Hashut the most?

I have a box of Horns of Hashut I'm yet to build, which I got off Ebay since I'm a new AoS player collecting Cities, and am also doing Helsmiths at the same time. Since I don't really care to do Warcry, using them as a Steelhelm proxy felt fun.

Which of the major cannon cities do you think fit the theme of having Steelhelm proxies that look like this? (I only like painting my Warhammer's as cannon schemes, not homebrew)

Post a photo of your first CoS miniatures and then your newest

I'm making this post for an actual reason. I just got into AoS and chose Cities as my first army. I am mostly in the hobby to learn to paint, and have been trying very hard, with lots of paints at my disposal and tons of the quality warhammer brushes. But, after trying to paint first Squire Udo and a Ironweld Cannon... the curve to learning how to improve my paint feels so intimidating. So I want to see people's starts and current spots in Cities to see if they have improved overtime, and by correlation, if I shouldn't feel discouraged and can keep painting.

Can I make an effective army without using the older models?

I'm currently stuck on deciding my first army (Gloomspite, Cities, Helsmiths, Skaven or Maggotkin) and I'm not a fan of the older Gloomspite goblims. If I DO choose to do Gloomspites, I'd prefer to not collect these older looking models.

Can I still make an effective army without these guys? Or are the Shootas and Stabbas VITAL to the infantry makeup of a Gloomspite army.

If I do choose Gloomspite, I'd probably go for an elite army with either as many trolls as possible, or a army comprised mostly of the newer, wolf-riding guys.
