Hi Reddit pals

We (family of 3) are travelling from UK to Costa Rica in just over a month and are confused about what money to take. We have some Colónes already but were advised to also take lower denomination USD.

I don't understand why, as a UK citizen, we would need both. Fair enough if you are from the US and using your native currency, but as we will need to change our GBP anyway why not change it all to Colónes?

Is there a benefit to having USD, or is all CRC better?

There is also the issue of having to change USD and CRC back to GBP on return with potential waste.

Any advice is appreciated
