My partner and I needed a second car, so cue us used car shopping. We did lots of looking online but only went to two places to test drive, Toyota (full understanding of high quality, just didn't like them) and a used car dealership. We ended up settling on a 2015 Mercedes C300 with 74k miles. We put 4k down and financed the rest (about 12k)
We love the look of the car, the reviews on repairs weren't terrible for a luxury car, so we went with it. First time for us as a pair and we dropped the ball, didn't press every button, and when we drove it off the lot realized that the sunroof doesn't open and now doesn't seal closed, window controllers sticking, and NO windshield washer fluid or low washer fluid message (wondering if it's a mechanical failure or just not filled up??). Of course there's more bangs and rattles than we noticed on a test drive, but I assumed to be expected with an 11 year old vehicle, and the headliner is falling apart in the back (covered up by rear seat salesman)
There's lots of things we would have done differently in hind sight and the dealership was honestly AWFUL. 0/10 experience all around.
What I really need help with is- should we stick it out and run it into the ground (if the dealer fixes the sunroof) or should we try to cut our losses and turn around and trade it in immediately.
Help, ya girl can't sleep 😊
Update: I went back to the dealer- my loan hadn't disbursed yet and I returned the car, losing 1k for a "restocking fee" that I haggled down from 2k. Not a huge loss but a huge learning lesson for myself. Thanks for all of the brutal honesty and suggestions.
...anyone got a Toyota they are selling ?? 😂
