Hi all, I’m new to using Rover, and I’m booking an overnight cat sitter for a weekend in June. My question comes about because my apartment complex is VERY extra when it comes to their screening and security. Before they’ll give me a second of set of keys (to my own apartment) for a sitter, the sitter has to fill out a consent form, submit to a background check, and provide a copy of their ID. I’m aware that Rover does their own screening and background checking - the office doesn’t care, they require their own. I feel so bad asking my sitter to jump through these hoops especially because I want to protect her privacy and make sure that none of her identifying information is being given directly to me, it’s going straight from her to the office.
She’s been a great sport about it, but I still feel bad. So my question is partly service structure-related and partly etiquette-related. Is there a way to tip after the stay is completed so that I can throw her some extra cash as an inconvenience fee? And is it weird if I leave some kind of treat for her in the house clearly labeled as a thank you for her efforts? Of course everyone is different so I don’t expect anyone to know how this specific person would feel about it, but broadly, is that kind of thing viewed as a client getting too friendly or anything like that?
Thanks for your time in reading my post!
