MARYLAND - I’ve been renting a house for 6 years from a private homeowner. She sold the house approximately one week into April. Since then, I have not heard from the new homeowners. I understand my lease is in effect until June 30 but since they have not made contact, I don’t know who to pay or who to contact for issues/repairs/questions. I paid my original landlord May 1st because I didn’t want to be late and wanted to give the new owners time to contact me for the May rent before opening an escrow account or something. My original landlord does not want my rent and is trying to send it back. I let her know prior that I would have to send it to her if the new owners didn’t reach out and she tried to tell me ”in that case, consider it waived“ but I need record of me paying. It is now May 4th and I do have a grace period for paying in my lease but I don’t want there to be a case for them to start eviction. I don’t know who they are and I also don’t feel like it’s my responsibility to hunt them down via records or get their information from my prior landlord - who I don’t actually have to be in contact with anymore and who can ignore me all she wants. but what’s the right move?
