Just a thought:

Could Equal THIS:

Obviously not to scale, the logistics of PTF tubing needs to be worked out, BUT if modified could be a dryer, a chamber heater and Canvas All-In-One. Yes it would be pricey for the dryer, but it also solves the lid issue, chamber heating and filament drying.

Not sure how critical the Elegoo spool holder are if they help with retracting.

Thoughts, ideas ?

Cheers,

I am grateful that Elegoo kept their word and released canvas for the CC1.

I want to have a respectful discussion as to why this took over a year to release and why the CC2 was released first.

  • Was it easier to release the CC2 first as it created a cleaner development path?
  • Was it a business decision to grab the multi-color market with the CC2?
  • Was the CC2 the test bed of the CC1?
  • Were there challenges to firmware for the CC1 board?

From what I can tell the hardware is very close to the CC2. I don't see this as a one year project to release but I want to understand why - not that it will change anything - but so that others including myself don't always jump to conclusions.

I can't wait to get my Canvas!

Any thoughts?

I can't wait to get my Canvas but I do not have the real estate in my office to add the 4 spools on the side. (I have converted a 5ft closet in my home office with an 18" deep wall mounted metal shelving that I store my main two printers at eye level. I use shelves above and below for filament storage, tools and other electronic equipment. It's a small setup but it works well.)

I want to design and mount my Canvas and spools above my printer on a shorter 12" deep shelf so it feeds straight down into the top of my CC1. Either that or completely design a cover that can hold the 4 spools the similar to how the Bambu printers do. (Not sure if that's possible, but I will check that option out as well. This could potentially fix the "no lid" issue as the Canvas and spools would essentially be the lid. I just need to figure out the mechanical issues with getting potentially short bowden tubes to feed correctly to the print head.

Any one else thinking of modifying for the new Canvas?

Cheers,

I have made several time lapse videos in the last few weeks.

I used Orca slicer, checked the box before sending the print to the printer and saw that the recording icon was blinking on the home screen during my 6 hour print.

I am looking under the camera tab to get those out onto an attached USB drive and the screen shows ZERO time lapses.

  • Do I have to use Elegoo's slicer for that to work?
  • I just installed the Canvas firmware update, could that have erased it?
  • Am I looking in the wrong place for them?

Thanks!

As the title stated Elegoo has already pushed down the firmware upgrade for the Canvas.

It's very odd that I just bought it last night using the same account I purchased my CC1 with.

I installed it but have not used it yet. I do not see any differences but I assume it's because I do not have the hardware yet.

Elegoo is on the ball, hope it doesn't fall!

With the Elegoo just releasing Canvas for the Centauri Carbon, I am curious how printer profiles get created for Orca Slicer when new OEM changes happen.

What gets the ball rolling towards creating those profiles and does anyone have any insight to the work required?

Orca Slicer and my Centauri Carbon are best buds. I need to think through how installing the new Canvas system will impact using the slicer and I may have to delay upgrading my printer if no profile is created to support it. I do not know if the CC2 version has a profile in Orca or if the CC2 profile will even work, but logically it makes sense that the CC2 info can be used as a starting point for the CC1 upgrade. Right?

The way the pre-orders are selling, a ton of people will likely be looking to use Orca with their upgraded printers.

Thanks for sharing any thoughts.

In case any one who is excited about the release of the canvas system for $55 and want some info on the install, check out this video.

Skip to about 20:26, watch the install.

Not sure what language it's in, its dubbed over in English. Kudos to this guy for making this before many of the usual suspects on the scene who do printer reviews.
