I’m having a lot of fun with the Sakura Treehouse, my first of two Rolife purchases (also got the Classic Carousel). After sticking to fairly traditional book nooks, this has been a little bit of a learning curve given that all the sakura flowers are just cardstock, and stuck on with dots of double-sided tape.
I had a few issues with the dots holding, but to be fair that was due to my cat being upset that he couldn’t lay in my lap while I was putting stuff together. He head-butted the whole thing right out of my hands to demand a hug. Had to end up gluing some of the flowers back on after that.
I also painted the edges of what I could, as well as using wood stain markers on the otherwise bare wood for the bench and the fence posts on the back side. I had been wondering how well Rolife stuff would take to being painted, and found that it looks nice but it took several coats more than I’m used to on a lot of the pieces, which slowed the process — but that’s not a bad thing, it’s enabled me to extend the enjoyment of the build. My plans are to string some fairy lights through the boughs of the finished tree.
All in all, I really liked the quality of the wooden pieces; how they fit together (only have had to use wax a few times); the clear instructions; and how nice this is going to look sitting on my shelf.
Far away from my cat.
