I almost scrolled past this marketplace listing, but the tambour door caught my eye. Then I saw the extruded aluminum legs and drawer pulls and realized it was an original “Alumna” desk by Jacques Guillon, a Canadian architect and designer whose “Cord Chair” is in the Museum of Modern Art.

This particular desk was one of several produced for Alcan’s head office. They hired Guillon’s design firm to create an environment that showcased aluminum (which included an aluminum staircase).

The desk was given to one of Alcan’s employees upon retiring, decades later I bought it from his granddaughter.

Hi all

I twisted my left knee while being forcibly ejected from a young horse a couple of months ago. Finally got an MRI appointment last week. The results indicate a radial undersurface tear in the body and posterior horn of the medial meniscus. There’s a thickening of the MCL due to strain.

Am I right to assume that an undersurface tear is less serious than one that’s torn through? I can’t get in to see my doc until next week. Really hoping that this is something that can be resolved without surgery, or chance of future arthritis. I ride horses nearly every day and would really like to avoid a lengthy rehab from surgery, but at the same time, don’t want to be stupid and risk my knee.
